Neurocognitive Testing

What is Neurocognitive Testing?

Simply put, it’s looking at your overall brain function. Memory, focus, and brain plasticity are all factors that play a major role in your day-to-day quality of life. It may sound intimidating to be tested. Flashes of grade school may pop-up where you failed a test or two. There is no way to fail a neurocognitive assessment. A pass or fail system wouldn’t show us the in-depth results necessary to design a thorough program. Instead, we test different areas of your brain to know which, if any, are lacking in care and attention.

Cognitive function declines at different rates depending on the individual. It can start as early as your mid-twenties and continue onward from there. If you are experiencing rapid decline (chronic brain fog, focus issues, etc), it’s crucial to take preventive measures as early as possible in order to ensure your most valuable asset is protected — your brain. Left untreated, the risk of neurological diseases can become life-altering.

Understanding Your Results

No matter what your results show, there are always ways to improve your overall function. With state-of-the-art testing procedures, maintaining brain health is just the beginning-- we can actually help you strengthen and increase your cognitive abilities. There are 5 main vital areas that we measure.

Composite Memory

Just as a composite material is made up of two or more substances, so is your memory compartment. It is important to see how each aspect of your memory performs in conjunction with each other.

Processing Speed

You need the ability to make correct decisions on a moment’s notice. Whether that’s in a business meeting or a social setting — timing is everything. If you’ve been feeling a bit slow or off in your processing time, this could be a sign that you need to be screened.

Executive Function

These functions include a set of cognitive processes that influence behavior. It includes attention control, inhibitory control, cognitive inhibition, cognitive flexibility, and working memory.

Reaction Time

This part of your cognitive function is very unique, as it is directly correlated with your response to stimulus. It has a real-life component, as your reaction time influences your physical reflexes.

Complex Attention

This is divided up into segments such as sustained attention, selective attention, divided attention and processing speed. This can help us understand where you are on the scale.
